Free eBay Fees Rumor Snuffed Out

About a week ago there were rumors abounding on some of the more popular auction blogs that eBay would be going to a no listing fee structure before the holidays.

I had my doubts.  You see, to be a solely non-listing fee site, you have to make your money on the backend.  This means you have to deliver buyers that will buy.

With the new eBay Best Match search, that just didn’t seem possible anymore.  No matter where I look, no matter what forum I read, sales are down and down and down.

Well, eBay proved me right again.

Instead of going to a no listing fee format they have once again raised their fees.  Well, in the disquise of a fee reduction. (more…)

eBay No Longer Just a Venue

For the last 12 years, whenever some seller broke the law by selling contraband on eBay the court room echoed with, “eBay is just a venue.”

As a matter of fact, no matter what responsibility some court or organzation tried to point at eBay, the hallowed halls resounded, “eBay is just a venue.”

Well, just like the business owner who tried to claim his secretary was an independent contractor, it just doesn’t fly anymore. (more…)
