About a week ago there were rumors abounding on some of the more popular auction blogs that eBay would be going to a no listing fee structure before the holidays.
I had my doubts. You see, to be a solely non-listing fee site, you have to make your money on the backend. This means you have to deliver buyers that will buy.
With the new eBay Best Match search, that just didn’t seem possible anymore. No matter where I look, no matter what forum I read, sales are down and down and down.
Well, eBay proved me right again.
Instead of going to a no listing fee format they have once again raised their fees. Well, in the disquise of a fee reduction. (more…)
For the last 12 years, whenever some seller broke the law by selling contraband on eBay the court room echoed with, “eBay is just a venue.”
As a matter of fact, no matter what responsibility some court or organzation tried to point at eBay, the hallowed halls resounded, “eBay is just a venue.”
Well, just like the business owner who tried to claim his secretary was an independent contractor, it just doesn’t fly anymore. (more…)
I recently read an article on Auctionbytes.com. A really good site by the way.
In this article “Griff,” one of the most popular eBay gurus, author of many books on eBay, host of eBay Talk Radio and Head of eBay University, stated how he stood behind all the changes in the eBay platform since their beginnings in late last fall. How all these changes are needed to revitalize the eBay’s growth.
I thougt this quite ironic since many of the initiated changes have litereally been recalled. Why? Officially because eBay has heard the community, the same community that was called “noise” back in February by Mr. Donahoe, eBay’s newest man in charge.
Unofficially, I think it was more because these changes are either costing eBay a loss in revenue (less sales=less final value fees) or for other unsubstantiated reasons, such as the world wide eBay boycott and eBay stock value plummeting.
Anyways, one of the changes that has been recanted is the Neutrals = Negatives. The reason this has caught my attention more than the other changes is because of it’s devastating result on many small and mid size sellers. I don’t include PowerSellers because, although many have left eBay, they had the financial means to open their own sites or move to other sites and take their customers with them. I have a warning for you regarding an email I received in my spam box today.
The subject stated it was from UPS.com about a shipment I sent that could not be delivered. This immediately sent up a flag for me because I do not ship through UPS and I was not expecting any shipments.
I also noticed there was an attachment to the email that was suppose to be an invoice. Generally, companies like UPS, FedEx and other similar corporate sites will refer to the package info in the email and not put it as an attachment. Plus, any spam filtered email with attachments should be a WARNING for you.
Many people think that drop shipping and wholesale are the same. While they are closely related in functioning with each other, there is an important difference. Not all wholesalers are drop shippers and not all drop shippers are wholesalers.
Thanks to the ubiquity of the internet, online virtual businesses have become very popular business opportunities.
Online retail stores are gradually playing a more important role in our lives than the traditional ‘brick-and-mortar’ retail shops. Over the last few years, a new concept called ‘Drop Shipping’ has emerged with the coming of the internet.
Drop Shippers are basically wholesalers who are willing to ship their products directly to your customers.
Often you may hear about what a business plan consists of. While including the necessary items is very important, you also want to make sure you don’t commit any of the following common business plan mistakes:
